I have been noticing that there is sometimes a red light that comes on on the trip computer. It is to the right of the display and is part of the computer. It does not turn on all of the time and I can't think of any reason that would cause it to turn on.

Bah, I'll just say it. It goes on when it's close to or below freezing outside.

 

I did try searching for "red light on trip computer" and found nothing about it.

That's odd. I think the lowest it has been around here is 40 deg.

It is basically and OH S*** it is cold button.
It is supposed to come in when it is freezing.

 

When search, click on advanced search, that gives you option to chose part of forum you like to search, also allows you to search posts by members (I always search posts by member named "tech" , he knows it all )

The light only lights up from 2C to -5C (i'm sure about the 2C, not really sure about the -5C). The reason being that at this temperature there is a possibility for Black Ice formation.
