I'm not sure I would have purchased an 850 if I had found this website first. When you look at the post here you would think that all of these cars are falling apart. But actually they are good cars that have some issues that you can fix yourself.

There must be a lot of 850's on the road. I actually purchased mine a month after I found this site but looking at all the post, it can scare you off.

Yeah... keep this in mind: that list of problems= stuff that mostly starts happening when the cars are more than 10 years old, and have 100k to 150k miles on them. And little of it is stuff that will leave you stranded of the side of the road. The biggest one, in my opinion, is to change the PCV system ASAP after seeing the signs of it being clogged: condensation in the oil (will freak you out the first time you see it... you'll think the head gasket has gone) and smoke blowing from the dipstick tube, and you'll not have to worry about all the seal leaks. Really, changing the PCV when you change the timing belt every 70,000 miles is not a bad idea. But the rest of the list contains mostly just irritating stuff.

Nah it wont definitly scare me off. my parents bought a 850 GLT new in 96. ever since then i have loved these cars and wanted one of my own but a turbo model. and i like to do things myself and not get ripped off by a garage.
