Exclamation windshield wiper arms get stuck when going down.

windshield wiper arms get stuck when going down. The wiper motor makes a buzzing noise as it tries to push arms back down. I have to move the wiper arms back down my self to get in leveled position.

Is this a sign my motor for the wipers going out or some latch or control arm is stuck when it tries to move it down?

I replaced with wiper motor relays and still no problem. I really need help with this one as its been raining and still raining where I am in TX.

I have no clue on how to fix this. I removed the cowl that covers the windshield wiper motor and turn the thing on and now it keeps buzzing when I turn the car back on. I am asking everyone here what this means. I don't have time during my work week to goto the junkyard to find and replace a windshield motor. this looks like a complex project that needs to be down for safety reasons.

probably the motor or its gears. I'd say the buzzing is the motor trying to cycle through once to get back to its starting position. Try putting one of the arms back on and assisting it through a cycle to see if that quiets it down. plan b is to remove the connector from the motor (the horn and the wipers share fuse 34...)

The diagram is kind of hard to read but shows how to get access to the wiper motor etc, where the relay are, and how it is wired.

I removed the fuse at 34 because the motor keeps buzzing but the wiper arms do not move. I try moving the arms back to start position but the motor still does not move. I guess the motor is dying and/or a linkage loose on the transmission arms that connects to to wiper arms. I am still trying to fix this issue. hopefully it does not rain too much tomorrow so I can sneak a trip to the junkyard.

When the wipers are off, the motor will continue to run until they "park". All cars are like this. So therefore, any time the motor can't move the wipers, they'll never park, and the motor runs forever, whenever the ignitino is on. Again, any car made after about 1960 will do this.

So the gears in the motor are bad.
