Default Wiper wont touch half the drivers side windsheild

I think it's a simple matter of adjustment (now that I jinxed myself), but on my 1997 850 T5 Wagon the driver's side wiper goes airborne as it passes the middle of it's stroke (exactly in the primary field of view). The springs are tight and the mechanism is not binding, but the wiper won't stay on the windshield (and it goes quite a ways off - 1/2"ish). I tried it in the driveway & at 90ish - same result except the later was a lot more fun. Can I shim the wiper motor on its mounts? Thanx for the help...

My car was doing that when I first purchased it. What I did was took the wiper arm off and bent the lower bracket a little then re-installed it. Fixed!

another way is at the pivot point you can see where the problem is. The arm makes contact with the mount and stops it from further travel. If you pull the arm away from the window then put a flat blade screw driver in the joint between the contact point then lower the arm bending the arm contact point just enough to let the arm travel all the way down. Will take a couple times to get it where you want it. Slow and easy.

Another way would be to shave the contact points on the mount.

Picture: If you look closely you can see my bends.

Sweet. I'll have to check that out. How does that get out of wack over time?

I have taken mine off, put it in a vise and bent it every so slightly. Works fine. Had to redo it on one of mine just the other day.

From what iv'e gathered the bushing in the housing starts to enlarge and the shaft starts to pull back . i tryed bending the wiper arm but i think you need to be superman . i'm trying Boxpin's method with bending it at the arm stop with the screw driver ,i was going to buy a dremel and grind it down but i think his way is MUCH better ! is there anything a screwdriver can't do ?

I'm teling it does not take much to bend it just very little. I could not believe how little it took to make it hit all the way through the stroke.
