Agreed - post about a dozen GOOD pics and add additional information, like the complete service history.

HA, that's the catch, I obviously don't own it or know anything about it. It is your typical 8 out of 10 (in and out) 96 850R, non smoker...all stock.

I was looking for a ball park figure...but I was thinking in the $3-5k range as well. I KNOW it is worth at least $4-4.5k to the right person, possibly more. There are quite a few 850R sedan's I've seen recently (all around the US), but not many wagons, and most of them (the nice ones) going in the $4.5-5.5k range.

Thanks.

If it is as clean as you say, with fairly decent service records, I'd say it's worth $4-$5k. If it's what you want, I say go for it.

I just picked myself up a '96 850R wagon, EXTREMELY clean white exterior with black interior, new tires, timing belt, waterpump, 1 year old transmission from Volvo, 129k, but it has a blown headgasket. I got the car for $1,000. Fortunatley, I have NO issue making any and all repairs myself, so it won't cost much to fix.

Ahh, so you're looking to buy it. For some reason I got the impression you were looking to sell.

Get a CarFax report and lookup the street price at edmunds.com and/or bluebook.com.

93-245, you didn't say that the owner is asking $3600. Here is the post on craigslist.

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/1799381461.html

Have it checked at a local volvo mechanic to see if there are any codes, or anything that the normal joe can't see.

Not a bad price on the surface.

Yep, that's the one. I looked at it yesterday morning,....and basically the "excellent shape" it was in was from one person's point of view, not my own. The paint is OK, but has quite a few scratches, and a few dents around, the trim on the top rails is pealing, the interior is full of crumbs and baby food,...drivers seat is worn, has a few rips. It does have a bunch of new parts on it...so for a driver, I'd probably pay maybe $2500 for it, but it's not in "pristine" condition like the guy told me.

Dang it: Excellent condition inside and out means.....well,...exactly that. The guy doesn't seem desperate, but would definitely take $3k I bet.

I hate that too, and OMG he couldn't give it a vacum!!!

For what's worth, here are somethings that others have done. The rails are replaceable and one guy recently posted a "How To" remove and paint. However, apparently the best solution is to get them off a 98 wagon as they also have rails that prevent the water that is pushed off the windshield by the wipers getting into your drivers windows when you have the windows down. I plan to do that sometime this summer before the Oregon rains hit in the fall.

Many times scratches can be eliminated by a great detail person with an airbrush.

I have a '96 Platinum Edition Turbo with 154,000 on the clock, I have so far replaced the struts with Bilstiens HD and the same shocks in rear, IPD HD End links. Makes for a great sportswagon ride. I like the stiffness and increased cornering ability...

Good luck with your search and decision.

Thanks, I'm passing on the black 850R down here. I'm trying to find a nice wagon for the wife again. When we lived up in Bend, we had a 98 V70R which was perfect for her in the Bend winters. I threw some stud-less snow tires on it and...wow amazing in the snow. Then we moved to SoCal and gave up the R, got a jeep. Wish we would have kept the R now...so I've been keeping my eyes open. There is a platinum edition wagon down here with about 110k on it....guy's asking $3400, looks nice....is that good deal?
