Hi all! New to the forum hoping someone can please help?? I have bought a used c30 T5 just recently unsure oh history, drove home 200 ks away no problem at all, checked oil and needed changing so bought castrol edge 5w 30 full synthetic and a ryco R2633P oil filter changed as per normal oil change, went to start the car and very loud engine noise from what sounds like the top of engine, turned off, tried again for a couple of seconds turned off again 😬 anyone had this issue before if so please chime in any help will be much appreciated..thanks

 

Did you figure out the problem? Not all used cars like the specified oil. As they get older 5w-30 may not be heavier. I can't say for the C30 (I would wait for more experienced members but no one replied?) but for my older Subarus they usually need to run 10w-30 in the summer or they run rough. Some turbos might want a heavier oil too. How did it turn out?

 

Hi, yes found the issue the oil filter wasn’t seated properly, it was my first time changing that style of filter and didn’t push it up far enough on the filter cap! So problem solved 👍🏼
