Newbie to the forum. 2008 C30 T5 Version 2 with the 6 speed manual. I scrolled through all the C30 threads, and didn’t see the problem I have addressed.

My shift lever has been getting a bit stiffer lately. It no longer self-centers to the spot between 3 and 4 when released on either side of neutral.

I asked the dealer to look at it, thinking it might need some lube. I was told expensive parts (many hundreds of $$) were needed to repair it. I can still shift it fine, it’s just less fun when I have to manually move it with more force than before.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and, if yes, found a less expensive repair?

Shifter cable might need to be change. Disconnect it at the transmission side, try to shift it at the shifter and see if the shifter is still stiff. If so, the shifter cable needs to be changed.
