Hi people.

I have a 2008 Volvo c30 2.0l petrol manual 5 speed. I have had a new sub assembly fitted +-10000km ago (+-6200mls) with a new clutch and slave cylinder. The clutch started slipping slightly and at random rpm's so I decided to bleed the system and I did find some air in the system, after that it seemed to be okay. It's now about 1000km later and it's still randomly slipping. I bled the slave again and still found some air in the system. Is there any way to maybe bleed the system and get all the air out or is it possible that there could be another faulty component?

when you say the clutch is slipping, you mean when you are driving you can feel the engine "motor boat"? Does the clutch pedal feel normal or does it have a very low release point? I'm not sure how air in the slave would cause the clutch to slip. Normally air in the system would give you a soft pedal and you'd have an issue to get the clutch to release not an issue with the clutch engaging. Sounds like you need a new clutch.

As to bleeding, the slave, did you use a power bleeder? Power bleeders put positive air pressure into the reservoir to push fluid from the master to the slave so you can monitor the bleeding without pumping the pedal There's also vacuum bleeder tools which do the same thing except they pull the fluid (and any trapped air). If after bleeding and you see air back in later, then you have an issue with the master cylinder, line or slave. An signs of leaking fluid?

 

Hi, yeah the engine does motor boat...well as in you can feel and see the rev picking up but your speed increases slowly...the clutch pedal feels okay, I did remove the clutch today and the clutch is still good. There is no score marks on the flywheel or pressure plate but you can see marks that the clutch plate was slipping slightly. There is no oil on any of the components either. BTW it is a Sachs clutch and pressure plate that was installed in the vehicle.
