Check fuses? Sensor? Chilton Repair Manual, pg 6-16 troubleshooting: Cruise control inoperative. 1. blown fuse. 2. Short or open in cruise control circuit. 3.Faulty brake or clutch switch. 4. Leaking vacuum circuit. 5. Faulty cruise control switch. 6. Faulty stepper motor. 7. faulty transducer. 8. Faulty speed sensor. 9. Faulty cruise control module. I would check & clean all wheel sensors 1st.
(no joke) On the way back from the beach my CC stopped working, when I got home I started tracing back the CC vacuum line, there is a connection behind the left front headlight, what I found was that the vacuum tube had been chewed through by the ground squirrel that had hitched a ride in my GRILL and was still there, peering up at me, I cut away the damaged part of the tube and reconnected it. ( yes I did drive back to the beach and waited for the squirrel to vacate)
