Default Convertible top not going down

Hi Guys I have a 2004 C-70 and its been cold all winter. Today was warmer and I tried to put the top down with the p brake on and the car stopped and the top would not go down but the little orange light would blink. When I turned the car on the top worked fine and the light did not blink but when I started the car the top stopped working. Even if I stopped mid way and turned on the car. If I killed the engine and left the key in the on position it worked again. Anyone have any ideas?

There is codes stored in the system that need to be cleared.

Can you just use an OBD 2 to read and reset the codes? Why do you think the top works when the engine is off (the light does not blink then)

No a special setup is needed.
I believe that is the programming in the computer.

Tech, do you know how to check the codes stored in the system and how to clear them? What do I need to do? Or are you saying I need to take it to the dealer?
Funny thing is it was working fine last summer.

You will need to take it to a Dealer or Volvo specialist shop that can read them.

Has anyone ever had this problem? would take it to the dealer but I dont want to pay $125 for them to just plug it in a computer. It seems like it would be some sensor.

Even if it was a sensor, only the Volvo diagnostics can find it.

Ha!!!!
I found the problem hopefully this will help others. For some reason the parking brake light want coming on when I applied the P brake, it would come on intermittently. When the car ignition was on with the motor off all the lights were on so the top worked. I just took out the P brake handle cover and played with the switch and now it works fine. Almost went to the dealer.. that would have been a waste of $125 at the least.
