MY C70 UPGRADES
whats up all,
i have a problem, i have a serious power draw ever since i installed the 7" DVD touch screen in place of the SC-816. i followed the wiring exactly and i think the memory wire which is the constant 12v is the blame.
anybody have this issue with an aftermarket radio? what was the fix?
i just wanna have the car in the best condition possible and not not having a dead battery every 2 days.

yeah Tech i though the same thing. i never had a memory wire pull any serious current. whats the charging voltage @ 2000 RPMS? i was reading 13.73v and it went down to 13.43v with everything on A/C, radar, radio, defrost, all lights, and GPS.
i will check that voltage draw at teh memory wire TIPSP, good call.

thats what i'm saying Tech. i was hoping to see 14.0v @ 2000 rpms with everything off and about 13.5v with everything on. i'm starting to think that maybe i just wasn't driving the car enough for those few times i found the battery dead.
oh tech, i retro-fitted 3 of those projectors into my motorcycle headlight last month and man, it blinds people in broad daylight!!! LOL

just saw the update.
I actual think it looks pretty good. the rear wing looks good on the car. the black has a nice touch with the hood mod. Are you gonna continue the black to the roof also?
hard to see from the pics.
try and get some better shots with the whol car.

Yes i plan on blacking out the roof, but it needs some work before I can do that. The hood and trunk needs more welding but I have to get a welder that can go low enough for sheet metal so it wont burn through as much. The flat black is a primer for now to keep the rust down
well the C70 broke-down on me just out of the holland tunnel in NYC, 11:00pm last night with an alternator failure! i had to pay $125 for towing and $68 for a cab back to my mom's house in NJ. i bet imma get screwed on this repair bill, then i still have to pay to drive back to orlando! @%^$&$ ;(
yeah, i wish i could sell it to someone that understands volvos and can finish the vision i have for it. i just put michelin pilot sports on it from a porsche and let me tell you these tires changed the whole way the car feels when driving!
i'm asking $3900
i'm asking $3900
still for sale, $3900 cash. i will entertain trades, looking for a nice TIG welder + $2000, a 97-99 dodge neon coupe + $2000. lemme know what good trades you may have
thanks
thanks
Hi,
Your C70 is hot! Amazing job on the wheels
I noticed that you addd a 7" Nave/DVD, etc, and I just added the following pose. I was hoping you might be able to help!
Thanks,
Steven
my post/questions:
I Just purchased a 2004 C70 Coupe, and very much want to replace the stereo - especially the head unit/system in the dash with a high end system.
First off, I cannot seem to find a trim piece that will PROPERLY replace the extremely large stereo trim panel that comes in the vehicle. Can anyone help me with this PLEASE?
Also, has anyone replaced this stereo successfully? If so, what did you do? I have had several professional shops tell me that they couldn't replace the necessary trim piece in the dash.
Secondly, can anyone tell me anything about the nature of the head unit that is in the vehicle now (mine does not have the speaker o top of the dash that I have seen in some versions of the car) - in case I an stuck with it:
1) WHAT MANUFACTURER made the head unit (and what else can you tell me about it;
2) Are there power amp outputs available FROM the head unit (so I can attach my power amps and sub); and
3) does anyone know how I can attach my iPod to the head unit (preferably from behind it), as I use iPod pretty exclusively for source - never use cassette, and really don't want to go back to CDs.
Finally does anyone know what size speakers are used/called for in each location?
I would appreciate all the help I can get!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot find ANY factory information/specifications/details on the stereo. Does anyone know if this info is available?
I am desperate, and need to do something in the next week as I am about to take a long road trip

Depends on what head unit you are installing....
I put a Pioneer in mine...I bought a cage for it Pioneer Avic-X910bt, Avic-X920bt... double din Kit - eBay (item 380327802729 end time Jun-25-11 11:53:32 PDT)
This might even work for different models....once you take out the OEM unit...you will have to cut the tabs on the inside of the trim of the car....don't need to buy anything else
There will be two plugs that you remove from the back...DO NOT CUT....once you remove take a pic of it and email me the plugs and the radio...I might have the harnes you need....I bought one but they sent me one for a different radio......one is for the power, illumination memory, auto turn on and speakers and the other is for the rear amp......attach it to the New unit and plug and play....or if you find a good installer they can tap RCA'a into the correct wires (like the previous owner on mine did) and you can use the rca's from the new unit and you'll be good to go....
I have the X-910...the newest is the 920/930...comes with a usb connector but you will have to get the correct Ipod cable to connect to it....also has built in BT that works like a charm.
Save your money...if you have the premium sound the Unit will post the sound and yuo'll feel like you are in a concert.....

Good luck!

actually gentlemen, i made an even trade for the C70. a 1995 mustang GT 5.0 5speed. the car has been traded as of the 7th of july.
as for the motor mounts, the ones i made were a little too solid and harsh, so i would recommend you get all the mounts for your car from a j'yard. then get all the old rubber out and get yourself some windshield urethane! comes in a cocking gun tube. fill the mounts with that instead and make sure that they are dry before use.
as for the stereo, you can find the basic radio harness on ebay that will allow you to just plug into the car. then, there is an additional harness on ebay that will allow you to plug into the factory amps from the head unit. you need BOTH of these harnesses to be able to use the factory system.
the trim piece came with my 7" DVD/MP3 player, although it wasn't perfect, it covered enough of the space around the unit. andything smaller than a double DIN will require a custom built trim piece.
