Can anyone point me in the right direction....
Messages: Alarm Service required - the red alarm light stays on. The high beams won't switch to low beams and once I shut the car off the amber lights in the front won't go out unless I remove the battery cable.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

 

On my 2005 T5 I had only three electrical issues. One was a blown fuse causing the interior lights to act strange. Next was a bad battery. The 3rd and more frequent problem was a bad alternator. When the alternator starts to fail the car will exhibit very strange behavior and messages.

Be wary of remanufactured alternators from your big chain parts stores. I had one that worked for about 1.5 years but it's replacement lasted about 1.5 days. I found a local alternator rebuilder who fixed it for about half the cost of a reman with known quality parts. This is what I recommend to anyone needing an alternator.
