Default 2000 s40 driving problem

Normally when I am driving over 40mph the car will kick to the left or right when I hit a bump in the road. It almost feel like the back end of the car is sliding on ice, but the road is dry. Any help please. 160k on the car.

That is interesting. What about bad bushings???
Other then that I really don't know what could be causing it. You might want to ask over at S40concepts.net to see if any of those guys have came across the same issue.

Is it the front or the back that kicks??, is it when you are driving in a straight line or when on a bend?

More info please

Feels like the back of the car, most noticeable on the express ways at higher speeds. straight line

Might sound strange, but how are your rear shocks??

A different design, but my truck would do the same thing. the rear shocks were so worn that whenever I went over a bump, the rear end would actually leave the ground for a split second and it would jump sideways a little.

Does it only do it in a straight line?, or does it also do it on turns?, any worse any less?

Shocks seem fine but i think they are the originals, and the car does have 160k. its hard to duplicate pushing down on them vs. real world driving, but i think that is the problem. Now I am getting noticeable noise from the front pass. side suspension. Sounds like crumpling up a paper bag every time i go over a dip or speed bump very slow. It is more noticeable when it is very cold out.

Don't know what that could be unless there is a bunch of snow and ice up in your wheel well...

Can you replicate that sound by bouncing the front end up and down
