Default 2001 S40 Not starting

I've had this car for over 3 years and not once has it done this to me. Today when trying to start my car it wouldn't turn over. It just kept making this "clicking" noise and then would stop with the dash board lights and radio still going. I took a look at my battery connections and they had a little residue on them but I cleaned them off. Still nothing, in the past it does take about 3 seconds to start but it has never done this. I had the car put in the shop back a couple of months ago for other issues but they never mentioned that something could be wrong with any other body or engine part. If somebody has had this issue and were able to solve please let me know something so I don't sound stupid if I have to a call a repair shop.[:@]

Sounds like the battery may be bad.
Try jump starting and see if it starts. If so then it is most likely the battery.

.....and if it turns out the battery is shot, be ready to spend extra $ for a high-quality battery (I use the Interstate Batteries). Trying to save $20 or so would end up paying more later.

Good luck,

Hey there thanks allot for the info, it did turn out to be the battery. The battery cables also needed to be cleaned, and I did purchase a good battery rather than a cheaper one. This saves me allot of time and money
