Default 2005 S40 spring replacement

My 2005 S40 has some suspension issues that are rather expensive to fix. One front spring broke in two and one back spring seems to be causing negative camber so I'm thinking I need to replace all four springs. The struts are only two years old so I was trying to find a set of factory springs (not lowered) that are not so hard on the wallet.

I've replaced 3 of 4 springs on my 2000 S40. Its a good idea to replace the springs in pairs (more important in the front since you want to get an alignment after messing with the struts). Not sure if the Gen2s are the same, but on the Gen1s there is a specific orientation for the springs to the mounts. As far as standard springs go, they are easily found in both after market and Genuine Volvo. Tascaparts.com has the best pricings for Genuine Volvo I've found so far, FCPEuro.com and EEuroparts.com carry after markets at a fair price (both are here in CT so east coast shipping is fast/reasonably priced). Figure about $90 for the aftermarket springs (Lesjofors) and $120 Genuine Volvo. Note FCP also sells preassembled complete struts for about $200 if you don't have a spring compressor etc (Gen1 S40 springs are really tall so not all compressors get the job done - not sure about Gen2s )

I had a 2003 S40 and I never messed with the suspension on that car though the struts were very stiff. The 2005 S40 has a different style of suspension from the GEN1. Front springs are short and fat and rear suspension uses a shock (no strut) and the springs sit in the lower control arms. I found eEuroparts has the fronts fully assembled for $133 each while FCP Euro is $200 each. Coil springs are about $102 each on the front and $86 on the rear from FCP. Seems there is also some rear upper control arm that RMEuropean sells that is supposed to fix the negative camber problem on the S40 ($40 each side). My right wheel is tilted in at the top further then the left wheel so I might try replacing the springs and the control arms.

I doubt it'd be the control arm - you'd notice some handling issues if the bushings or ball joint was worn. Certainly a broken spring (not uncommon for them to break about 2-3 inches from the top end) or a worn/broken strut mount would mess up your camber as would a bent strut.

GEN2 S40 Rear suspension is similar to the 850 with the spring separate from the shock. All four shocks are about two years old with minimal driving. I'm thinking the spring maybe cracked at the bottom of the top bushing is bad. Just seems odd there is so much negative camber on one side. I wonder if those rear springs are the same size as the 850?
