2007 S40 timing marks on crank pulley
I know this isn’t the “correct” way to do this. At this point I just don’t have the time or patience or more so, the tools to pull the crank pulley off to see the timing mark on the crank gear. Does anyone have a picture of the crank pulley while the cams and crank are at TDC?
I see your 2 other posts are related to stalling - are you thinking your cam timing is off and that's your problem? If so look elsewhere. In answer to your question the timing marks are visible without removal of the vibration damper or the belt.
A good first step would be a scan with a compatible scan tool - with a good tool you can monitor all sorts of values as the car is running also.
Okay thank you. Have you ever heard of, or does it necessarily mean something specific if the car will start and run when I disconnect the vacuum hose just after the throttle body? When I put the hose in, it sounds like it chokes the car out and it stalls? I am not familiar enough to know if that would mean that the engine is staying alive because it’s getting more air, or if it’s because it’s getting rid of more air. I assume the first would mean it’s spitting out more fuel than it wants to and the latter would mean it’s not getting enough fuel? I just don’t know which is happening when I pull that hose off
