Does Intake VVT move internally
I'm trying to time my Int VVT on 2010 S40. I locked out the rear of cam with tool. I know it is not indexed to cam but should it not be spring loaded or manually moveable one way or other? Mine when off the cam does not move or push in or out. From every thread of older VVT when cams are locked the sprocket moves both ways. Mine just sits there rigid and no movement. Is my VVT Hub bad? This for 2007 and newer.

I take it that there are so few later models of S40 that people just don't know. I'm throwing this out there in hopes that when someone else has problems with Intake VVT or Timing belt alignment issues that this will help. I recently replaced a Head gasket on a 2010 S40 and found that Intake VVT hubs do not move back on the cam when locked. You can treat it just like old school engines. I read so many threads where people had to advance the VVT cam when installing TB that I thought I had a bad hub when it wouldn't budge with cams locked. This was a frustrating experience as there is so little info on later generation S40. Hope it helps future owners.
