Default E-Brake Spring Installation

Is there a trick to re-installing the large spring that is used to hold tension on the emergency brake cable? This springwas just hanging when I pulled the left rear tire off to investigate the metal to metal sound. The left rear outer pad was down to metal after 10K miles on the Green EBC brake pads.Started clicking last Friday and was down to metal by Monday. I don't think the spring coming off would have contributed to the premature wear and it did not feel like the caliper was hanging up. Mom advised she did not drive it with the E-Brake on (that was my first thought) I'm hoping it is just the nature of these pads to wear quickly. On my way now to get new pads and rotors. I tried to reinstall the spring yesterday with no luck. There must be a trick that I am not finding.

Thanks,

Kevin

I think that it is a major pain to get back on and you just have to wrestle with it.

That being off could have made the pads wear fast.
