The button to change gear on the shift gear **** is broken. How do I remove the Shift gear ****? I have managed to pull down the leather cloth from the shift gear **** and I can see the metal pole. How do I take out the **** and replace it with a new one?

Can I replace the shift gear **** with any new **** from autozone or does it have to be from volvo? thanks.

IPD USA will sell you the kit for the gear change **** including the spring and button. They also have online instructions. To remove the **** you simply put the gear shift in low gear and pull up on the ****. Once the **** is removed you can insert a thin screwdriver in the opening where it mounts and push out on the mechanism that operates the shift button. You may have to pull on the button as well. Once this is done you can relieve the torsion spring tension behind the button and disassemble. The entire process takes only a few minutes. Good luck.
