Hi Everyone.

I have a 2000 volvo s40 and my lights will not turn off even after the ignition is turned off. I have to unplug the battery while I am not driving in order to keep it from dying. If anyone had any suggestions, please respond.

I have the same problem. I've been told that its a faulty switch and new from the dealer it would be $175 and $60 from a "junkyard". I haven't committed to getting it done yet. In the meantime I open the hood every night to plug and unplug the lights themselves. I wouldn't take it off the battery all the time like you do because it resets everything. The lights unplug right behind them by squeezing the metal clips on either side of the plug. I know this isn't the solution that you were looking for but maybe a better option than undoing the battery all the time. Let me know if you find out what is wrong and if you get it fixed because I would be curious to know for sure.

 

well the way to test is unplug the switch and see if the lights turn off....
