So, I have had my 2010 S40 for almost two years without problem. I had my coolant reservior cracked, replaced it then driving one day I got "system power maintenance urgent. Pulled off and saw that my alternator belt had snapped. Replaced that and was driving away from the garage and pop, lost all power and was towed to the garage once more. I figured my alternator seized, so I ordered a replacement and went to install and noticed my a/c belt was snapped. Replaced the belt and the AC compressor is making a grinding metal clinking sound. I drive on it for about 15 miles and I get the system power message again creep it back to work, pop thehood and my Compressor belt is broken again. So now I have replaced the coolant reservoir, Alternator and two belts, I'm trying to avoid the dealership. As they charge an arm and a leg. Any suggestions would be great!

 

Sounds like a possible problem with the compressor
