Default Removing clear plastic window from dash board

I have a 2002 Volvo s40. I would like to remove and clean the plastic windows that sits in front of the gauges for speedometer and tachometer, plus clock and other adjustments.

The plastic window is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Is there a way to remove on my Volvo s40, clean it and then put it back on my car?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Respectfully,

Newport_j

PS I hope this is easy. I am afraid it is not.

You can do this. But huge warning, don't pry up any of the white tabs. They will almost certainly snap with any amount of force. The clear shield should have tabs you can push down and once all are depressed it will slide off the front. See this album of a 03/04 cluster I dismantled.

As far as getting it out of the car. There are a few screws you remove and you can pull it out through the front with the wheel position lowered. There are two connections on the back to unplug.

Now I am just talking about the plastic, clear sheet on the dashboard. It covers the speedometer, tachometer clock and odometer. This can be removed, cleaned and then replaced on the 2002 Volvo s40 without too much trouble?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You need to remove the cluster to remove the shield. It's attached to it.
