s40 with codes and issues
Hello everyone,I have a 2004 Volvo s40 1.9t 1st gen. When inspecting my suspension I found that I have a crack in the inner CV boot and a rip in the rubber steering gear boot I was wondering if I could drive the car like this since I don't have the time at the moment to change them also how much would it be to get new rubber boots?.also have a hole in the flex pipe and codes p0455 evap large leak and p0015 exhaust camshaft over retarded. with emmisions coming up I'd like to clear up the codes if possible.
You can replace the boots for relatively little money now (especially if you're a DIY person), or you can drive them as-is and replace the axle$ when the debris getting into the CV joints destroys them. Same with the steering boot, though it will probably take a lot longer to destroy it unless you're driving in sloppy conditions a lot.
Fix the flex pipe.
Fix the flex pipe.
Thanks for the feedback I usually do the work myself.I drive on dirt roads alot so they will probably get gritty pretty fast may just wait and replace the boots when I replace the axle to save some money. As for the flex pipe I think it may be oval in shape can't seem to find the right size I don't really weld so I may just saw the old one off and clamp the new pipe in place.i heard the p0015 code was common in these 1st Gen s40's and not sure about the large evap leak p0455
