1999 2.4T AWD V70 Money Pit - Starting Issues
Okay
Thanks in advance for looking at this, I'll try to keep it relevant.
Bought my first V70 on reccommedation and, at first, all was well; very quickly it developed a few starting problems (turned but never fired) and since then I've replaced the following as determined by the ECU reader.
Accelerator pedal position sensor (whole pedal assembly); cleared the ETS problem.
O2 sensor (before CAT)
Cranshaft Position Sensor (although there was no ECU fault for this, it did say that the crank was turning at 6500rpm! - assumed this to be a fault)
Once the car is started, there are absolutely no problems; car gets down the road great but I am still concerned about the starting itself. Sometimes it will go at the turn of a key, sometimes it just turns over for ages and then threatens to fire (while this is happening, the rev counter can go a bit mental).
I'm at a loss what I can replace next and, to be honest, I'm not enjoying shovelling money into it (at £400 now). Can anyone suggest what the cause of this may be. I have no warnings, ECU is clear, no codes, nothing. Diagnosis in the dark isn't my thing I'm afraid!
Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks again

v70 start problem
You don't say what OBD codes told you. Mine wouldn't start hot, codes were ...016 or ... 018 (I just remember the 16 and the 18, both indicating trouble with the temperature sensor.) When the car wouldn't start hot it appeared to be a flooding problem, which in my VW Quantum I used to rectify by pulling out the fuel pump relay, turning over the starter to clear the excess fuel, inserting the relay and everything was fine..... in the Volvo I located the fuel pump fuse. Pulled it. Put it back. That resulted in a funny three second buzzing sound. AFTER THAT INNOCENT PROCEDURE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOT ON.... AND THRER IS NO PROBLEM ANY MORE.
