Hey All,

So I have an 05 S40 2.4 auto that was run through some water about 2ft deep, then engine then stopped and threw a rod. So, I bought another car that was rear ended and had a good engine, it is the same 2.4 engine, but is manual. I swapped the engine and kept the same cradle and transmission. Took it out for the first drive and everything worked well for the first 10 miles or so, then it shifted out of drive and went into neutral. the shifter didn't move, but it would rev and not move. I got it back home and started looking it over, the transmission fluid level is good, and I don't see anything visibly wrong with it. It will occasionally go into drive and move 50ft or so and then it goes back to neutral. But most of the time it doesn't engage in drive or reverse, it just revs and nothing happens. Any ideas?

 

No strange noises? I've seen the torque convertor shear the bolts to the flex plate after an engine swap. Also seen it where the flex plate bolts were left out completely.

 

No strange noises at all, I put it on some jackstands and it pulls then.

 

Any transmission trouble codes? Any codes at all?
