Unplugging CEM fuse in manual transmission
Hi Everyone,
I'm thinking of buying a 6 speed manual volvo s40 t5 2005 with a failing cem module. I've heard on these forums that on automatics, if you just unplug the fuse for the CEM module, the car will be drivable except the transmission will go into limp mode, and I'm guessing this won't be a problem for a manual. Do you know if the car would be drivable if I take out the fuse?
What can I expect if I do this? Will the headlights work if I do this? Will the brake lights go on if I press the brakes? Speculation is totally welcome if you don't know the answer.
Thanks,
Hari

https://theeshadow.com/files/volvo/v...-tp3978202.pdf may help.
There's a bunch of fuses in the CEM and several key relays, what exactly are your trying to do?

Thanks this manual is helpful! I want to buy the car, and get the car to a stage where I can drive the car about 2 hours down a highway in Indiana during the daytime to my house, where I can do actual work on it. The owner told me he and his family were taking it on a road trip 3 days ago and the CEM failed.
I guess I'm wondering if there are any quick fixes that would let me do this 2 hour drive.
