Default 2001 s60 - When to change trans fluid?

My used 2001 S60 turbo has 65,000 miles and I asked my Mechanic at Firestone to change teh trans fluid. But he says you don't change unless I get a computer indication to do so or oil llooks bad. Is this correct? I'm used to changing about every 50,000 miles

My local independent mechanic recommends every 30k miles and I believe that is the consensus on the forums too. I could be wrong though.

Yea do it now and every 30k - small price for piece of mind . Just do yourself a favor and do it yourself - procedure is outlined pretty good someplace here on boards & for sure don't let them flush it or use anything else other than 3390 fluid - this topic is covered at length on sticky and everywhere else.

Default When to change trans fluid?

My 2001 S60 has already 104,000 miles on it. I last changed it at 97,000 & still going strong... Just try to do it yourself & use Mobil 3309 ATF. NEVER have someone do a "Flush"... The proceedure is called "drain & fill". Just search the forum & you will find out how to do it. It's easy... good luck
