I need to replace the gear shift **** in my 2004 S60. I've read where some of the other models just pull up and off with a little effort. Is that all there is to replacing this part. My button broke and we were stuck in reverse and drive only. I have the part coming in the mail.

Before you pull the **** up with full force, be sure to release the plastic colllar at the foot at the ****. The collar must be released by inserting a thin wood/plastic structure at the side of the joint part between the the **** and the collar and pressed inside to release the hatch.
