HELP
The fuel pump in my 2005 S60 2.4L has quit working again... Maybe?
I had it replaced by Volvo 4 years ago, this time I thought I would try and do it myself, however I ran into a few interesting issues.
First I have a steel tank so just the single style pump and when I took off the access cover I found 2 interesting items:
1. there was a single wire coming out of the top that was very crudely taped and just laying there? Not depicted on any diagram or pump I found
2. the Fuel pump retaining ring was metal, not plastic like all the other diagrams and parts I found?
I returned to the local Volvo dealer to ask ????? they said the mechanic that worked on it no longer worked there. They could not answer any questions on the retaining ring and said the wire was probably a ground that was not needed????
However I elected to ground the wire, the pump now will run ( very loudly).
consequently the car will run ???? If I disconnect the ground the car dies.
Question is how did the car run for 4 years without this wire grounded?
Is this the correct pump? and how do I remove the retaining ring? I can,t find a tool?
