Default Airbag service error, ECC not working, electronics gone mad.

I replaced the blower resistor. I did not disconnect the battery first.

The new resistor worked great, then at some point (been outside in the cold for 3 hours fixing this BS, details are foggy) the ECC went blank. I also got an SRS-Service Airbag error.

I disconnected and reconnected the ECC. The ECC came back on and I can hear it operating the blend doors, but the blower no longer comes on. I tried connecting my old blower resistor just to see if I burned out the new one, but it didn't work.

I tried the "lock-unlock 5 times" procedure with both the key fob and the key on the door to reset the electrics, but that didn't work. The car starts and drives and all other electronics work. Fuses looked fine.

Please help! I did a search -- is it typical for this to happen with DIY work on even a simple blower motor? I plan on driving it to the dealer this morning.

Default

Looks like the blower died. They replaced it for $650 with labor.
