Default Brake issue question

OK, so I've got an '06 S60 AWD that had some rust buildup on the rotors from sitting during the winter. It would shake the hell out of the car when braking. Volvo would not cover the rotors under warranty and wanted to charge us over $1,000 to replace all 4 sets of brakes. The car was taken to an independent shop to have the rotors turned, and it worked for a little while, but the vibration is back. Do you think just the rotors need to be replaced or the pads too? Also, what brand of rotor would you guys recommend? Thanks.

If you do the rotors then you should replace the pads as well, IMO. Brembo and Zimmerman rotors are popular. Either one should do the same job.

Anything difficult when replacing rotors/pads yourself? Or is it pretty standard to any other brake job?

Only has 7,000 miles on it. I was hoping to save the pads.

You need to have a 7mm hex in order to remove the caliper slide bolts. Other than that, it is straight forward. The big PITA for me was getting the return spring (or whatever that's called) back on.

That's not bad, use your judgment.
