CD Changer Issues (Stuck CD?)
My 08 S60 2.5T CD changer is acting very strange. After a bit of time on the road, it starts making the loading CD noise, and it will change from whatever audio source to the CD when I hit a big enough bump. From what I have gathered, there's probably a CD stuck in there, and since the dampeners are worn, a good enough shake causes the CD(s) that is/are in there to cause the head unit to read the CD, thinking one has been input.
Fuses seemed okay, and I tried to trick of using another CD to eject the one stuck, as well as disconnecting the battery, leaving it disconnected for a bit, then connecting it again, to no avail. Now I really don't care that the CD changer is broken, but the head unit constantly switching to it is quite annoying while driving. Is there any way to disconnect/disable the CD changer? Would this cause issues in the ECU? I have another aftermarket stereo but I've heard of the issues that come along with it, so I'd rather just keep the OEM head unit in there.
Its the 650 HU. Everything else on the stereo system works fine besides the CD changer. I checked the forums but couldn't find a specific fix. If I missed it, apologies, and if you could provide a link that'd be so helpful. Thanks!

How about - unplug the CD changer? And then see what happens? Sounds like the input selector on your head unit is shaking over bumps and causing an input change - see what happens with the changer disconnected.
From what I understand your external CD player causes problems with xxx over bumps.

Hi, so due to repairs done in the past, I can't seem to get the panel around the gear shift off, as the wires have been hardwired into the panel. I can just barely reach the cables. Do you happen to remember which of the cables controls the CD changer? I just don't want to trial and error that whole thing again and again. Thanks for your reply!
Hi, just found a schematic on Matthew's Volvo. Is it the round black cable?

The cable on the back of the tuner/head unit is installed on every car from the factory - then if you want a changer all they have to do is plug it in in the back of the car. Sorry I thought that was clear from the previous conversations.

If anyone has a diagram of the wiring that they could post Id appreciate it, or any tactics to remove the CD.
Yes there is a misunderstanding , sorry. You Can't "disconnect" the internal cd player inside your head unit. If you have a stuck cd sure you can get that out but you will probably permanently break the head unit trying to "disconnect" the cd electrically.
From your description you "go over a bump and the cd player starts making noise" - maybe because the source ****/button gets shaken? Have you tried to duplicate that? (there won't be an easy fix for a source **** that changes on it own either)

So I fixed it. Thought I'd give an update to anyone with a similar problem. I never really figured out the issue, but the issue was not a stuck CD. I used the trick of wrapping a gift or credit card with tape and trying to use the sticky side to latch on to the cd to hopefully get it out. It didn't work, but I noticed a lot of grime being stuck to the tape, and I might have pushed something in the reading slot that was causing the Head Unit to think this was the issue? Anyways, try using the same trick I did, maybe use a tool that's commonly used to clean CD slots if you're worried about damage, and hopefully, you'll get it fixed and not waste time and money with other solutions.
