Default Extended Warranty or not?

Greetings fellow Volvo lovers! I took my recently purchased 2017 Volvo S60 T5 to the Volvo dealer in Bellevue Washington. Really nice people and the loan car was fabulous (2022 XC60B5). They performed kind of a cross between a 60K and 80K at my request since my car didn't have any records. They did tell me that the car was in very good condition. Apparently the previous owner put new brakes on it before trading it in, which was a nice surprise. I also put new tires and a alignment. It drives better than any new chevy I ever owned. So when I bought this car, I purchased two add ons. One was "free" oil changes with synthetic oil every7500 miles for 5 years ($1100) and 48K extended warranty ($4800). The warranty company is Fidelity, but basically I can take it to a very narrow list of providers, none of which are Volvo dealers. The warranty (gold package) covers supposedly most things on the car. So I am going to take the maintenance plan back and get a partial refund, because they refuse to use Castrol Edge Professional-V, which is what I want in my car. But I'm wondering what you all would suggest for the warranty. Is a 2017 S60 that is being maintained now at a Volvo dealer due to encounter any repairs that would cost $4800? It had 72K on the clock. Has 82K now, and the warranty would take me up to 120K. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I'm thinking I should take the warranty back as well. I will get most of the money back, I think.

start with motor oil... Read the owners manual for factory specs. Castrol is only one brand that meets Volvo's guidance. If you want to learn more about which brands meet those specs, check out bobistheoilguy.com which has unbiased content to satisfy your inner geek. Basically your car needs a brand name full synthetic in the correct weight for your driving/climate and compliant to oil specs as shown in the owners manual. As to an oil change plan - I'd stick to the factory recommended service intervals. Keep in mind the benefit of having a dealer do the scheduled maintenance is they all follow an inspection protocol to give you advise on other issues. I am a fan of extended warranties for used cars since you really don't know how the prior owners maintained the car. This is where buying CPO is a good choice since the dealer/factory extends the warranty.
