Default hood wont open

my s60 hood wont open, the inside the car end seems ok.... it still has the ball on the cable end, it seems impossible to get to the other end at the front of the car

You should re-read what you posted. I'm not really sure what you mean, besides that the hood doesn't open. Assuming that the cable broke, I think it will be pretty hard to open. The cable runs on top of the driver's side frame rail. You may be able to pull it there. You'd have to jack it up (put it on jack stands, don't get under it with only a jack holding it), drop the belly pan and reach up under the air filter above the frame rail and see if you can pull it. I have a few pictures of my S60R (it's a little different) that may help, but it looks like that may be tough.

i thought i would try it again today after i drove it home, it opened up at the last bit of pulling , after i got it opened and checked the latches i found them dry and rusty.... lubed them up and now they work fine, so this is one item that needs to be kept lubed up for easy working release cable..thanks for looking
