Default More Problems...

Anyone care to take a stab at this one:

Whenever I let off of the accelerator, I get the most aweful "grinding" sound coming from the right front of the car. It does not happen while I am giving it gas. This just started yesterday.

Will I need to go to the credit union for a loan on this one?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Don't really notice anything else. However, the front tires are "cupped" fairly bad and have been that way for a little while. Other than that, nothing else.

See if the upper torque mount is almost gone. They dryrott then fall apart.

The torque mount appears to be a little bit loose. I think that one of the mounts has been replaced...one of them looks blue, the other is white.

If they are blue and white then they are not factory?

I guess not, the bushings definately are a different color on each side.

Would this have an affect on the grinding sound that I am hearing?

Maybe they are urethane.
Might also have another one bad so that when you let off the gas you feel the motor torquing from slowing down.

I see...

Any chance it could be a bearing or a drive shaft?

Is that dealer cost for repair and parts?

If you are not mechanically challenged, then it would be cheaper for you to buy the part and do it yourself. [8D]

862 was dealer cost. However, I found an independant mechanic to do it for 560...450 or so for the part + 110 to put it in. Either way, it is a bummer. Blowing out an axle at 99k miles on a 30+K vehicle...yikes. I think I could have better luck mechanically with a Kia. Life with the old Volvo is starting to get a bit costly!!!
