Need advice
Hi all
I am a newbie on the forum and I would really appreciate some advice.
I am just changing jobs and therefore losing my company car. For my new job I will have a reasonable commute (20 miles each way) and I am looking at buying a car that will make my commute as comfortable as possible. I have a limited budget so I am looking at an old car. I was thinking the S80 would do the job, but I was advised on the forum that the S60 would be a safer bet,and I like it.
Could you please tell me if you think this is a good idea in the first place, and if so if there are any particular things that I should be looking for on such an old car?
Also, what would you think is the best choice, a 2000 at 50k miles or a 2003 at 100k miles (assuming they go for the same price)
Cheers,
Dan

Thanks mate! and sorry for being silly (even though I am sure I've seen some adds with 2000 X reg).
So should I take it that a 100k mileage isn't something to be scared of?
Also, if you don't mind, I've seen one advertised with "slight problem with reverse". Any idea what that could be and how expensive it would be to fix?
Thanks again

The reverse problem might be a software issue. Thats usually about $30.00 us and 1 hour labor.
My wifes white 850 in my sig pic is a turbo and has 220,000 miles on it now and still runs like new. Almost same engine as the S60.

Thank you for your advice.
I've just bought a 2003 S60 2.5 T SE with 100k miles onboard.
Now, I could do with more advice: the car has been a police car (probably an ex company car rather than a squad car as it has no modifications) and it doesn't have any service history (they probably have their own set of files rather than use the designated service book). Should I struggle to obtain some information from the police or should I just take it in for a service and get that over with?
Cheers,
Dan
