So here's the story...

I was driving down the road, a quiet side road so I was driving pretty slow, and suddenly I heard a loud boom and my car came to a halt...on its own. I got out quick and at went to the back of the car because it felt like thats where it came from. The BACK REAR TIRE was pretty smokey so I thought i just blew a tire but all the smoke cleared and the tire was fine...wasnt losing any air or pressure, it was perfectly fine. I went back into the car started it and just put the car in drive, and it didn't move! then i put it in neutral...it tried to move forward but didnt. I guess the brake system is completely messed up??? It seems as though the Rear Tire is locked??? Does anyone know what could have caused this? or wut it could be? I had it towed to the dealership a little awhile ago but I am anxious for answers...Any ideas??

Sounds like the e-brake shoe lining came off and locked the wheel.
Usually you will need new shoes and a rotor unless it damaged more.

 

thanks a lot for the reply back! How much would something like that cost...a couple hundred or I am looking at something much more?

and the car is AWD, would that mean I would have to replace all? just wondering..

I would say in the area of maybe like $300.00 or so.

 

I have seen this before when the parking brake lining comes off and jams the wheel locked. If it's at a dealer, you can expect about $300 like tech stated. They will need to do both sides.
