Default Oil filter confusion

Not that it's new feeling to me, but I am sooooo confused.
When I did my first oil change on this car, i discovered that these filters do not have the anti drain-back or the oil bypass valves. Well it's just a cartridge after all. I ordered mine from FCP they do not offer ( i don't think) a cannister/spinon type filters offered by BOSCH and A/C Delco here

Please notice our favorite FRAM extra guard for $23.66 what a deal with $4.26 savings
Also notice this is (I think) the only filter that is a cannister design and does NOT have neither of above valves.
I've been taught that having both valves is very beneficial to your engine (possibly with the exception of been severely sludged engine) and provide a superior protection compare to the cartridge filters.
Is there some kind of bypass mechanism and the anti drain-back built in the engine so there's no need for them to be present in the filter or is this another example or planned obsolescence under umbrella of "saving the environment"
Thanks,
still dealing with sludge

They are only cartridge filters. Anit-drain back valve? why would you need one? it is on the bottom of the pan. Bypass valve, just change the oil every 5000 miles and you won't have sludge.
