Default please help me find a way to replace a stop lamp bulb

I'm receiving a check stop lamp message. And physically the lamp is out on the driver side rear brake light.

Now I'm A NOVICE. I'm not a mechanic , not electrician. I say this so that nobody believes there is a long history with this.

My 2002 Volvo s60 manual states All bulbs in the tail light cluster can be replaced from inside the trunk

Great

then it says The bulbs are located in two separate bulb holders, an upper and a lower. Each bulb holder has a locking pin

Ok? no further reference about locking pin Does that mean the upper holder can be released so that I can replace the stop light bulb?

open the trunk, find the cloth cover directly behind the tailight assembly. squeeze the arms to take abulb holder out and replace bulb

Yes, you just have to dig in and pay attention to what you are doing. Chances are you will have 3 steps. Surely you can remember how to back out of 3 steps.

The tough part will be if the bulbs are halogens, you are not suppose to touch them with your fingers. The oil on your hands will destroy them in a short time.
