Default Power Steering Fluid

My wife and I have a 2008 S60 2.5T that currrently has 55k on it. I did a clay bar on it today and waxed it as well. After I got finished I popped the hood and checked all the fluid levels. I don't think I've ever checked the P/S fluid before, but pulled the dipstick and it wasn't even touching it. There is some fluid in the reservoir but not enough. When checking the manual it says Volvo Synthetic (Pentosin CHF11S) or equivalent. What is the equivalent?

The P/S system is not making any crazy noises and there is no fluid leaking under the car or sign of fluid spray from anywhere...guess I'll refill it and keep an eye on it.

Not necessarily.. I used to get the stuff on ebay for about $15 or $16 a bottle shipped.. but I can never seem to find it again...

Looks like you going to have to visit the stealership for that one...
If you know anyone working service at the dealer they might be kidn enough to give you 1/4 bottle to top up.. they did that for me for free once

I went to NAPA today...the guy never heard of it but it was in his computer. He is ordering from his warehouse and will have it for me in the morning. $25/Liter!! That is some expensive P/S fluid. I'm used to $4/qt for GM fluid.

That is why somebody said that Volvos are not for the faint of heart. They r high maintenance cars and if u have an elec'l or software issue, u have no choice but go to the stealership or diagnose yourself if u know how. They could be a PITA

Actually I think that you could use the ATF instead of the Pentosin, as long as you don't mix the two there should be no problems. My S70 uses the same steering components as the S60 and it uses the ATF, but on the S60 they changed the fluid to this expensive synthetic stuff.
