Default Question about Exhaust Gasket, 2007 T5

Hi. I have a 2007 S60 T5, 70K miles on it. For the past 2-3 months the car has been squeaking upon a cold startup, and then for about 60 seconds when I first start driving.

The car has been with the Volvo dealer for the past 3 days and they finally told me that the exhaust gasket is causing the squeak. Said it takes about 10 hours of labor to replace and that replacing it is optional. Does this sound right?

As an FYI - the steering was replaced in July. At first I thought all the noises were related, but once the steering was replaced this is the only noise that remained.

Thanks!

Normally when that happens, it is a belt slipping. This tends to happen when the belt tensioner sticks because of the cold and does not keep enough tension.

If it is the exhaust gasket, and you are good with your hands, I would find out which one it is and replace it yourself. 10 hours of labor is going to be killer. The gasket is only a couple bucks.
