What are the less obvious signs of a real R type? I have the chance to buy a 2005 S60 R tomorrow, would like to make sure its the real thing. I'm guessing the twin turbo is pretty major one, but what else?

BTW: I'm a long term (28 years) SAAB owner of various models, and this S60 will have to share the driveway with two 9-5 aeros... should make for some interesting comparisons...

Engine code in the VIN for an R is 52 (6th and 7th digits)

 

You said its not a twin turbo? I thought all type R S60's are? I'll get the VIN this evening. Now I'm depressed.

 

Oh, its turbo, just not twin. Sorry, been also looking at Audi S4's got twins on the mind.
