identification!?

Default identification!?

what are the best ways to prove the identity of an 940 volvo?
there is a vin number on the dashbord and on the door but is there something else that cant be maipulated so easily for ex. something printed on the engine?!

All old American cars had an engine number and I presume the practice is similar for Europe. The factory has records linking the engines to the original vehicles and can tell if an engine has been replaced. That should prove useful for identifying the car if it has the original engine. That plus the color, body style, factory equipment, makes the vehicle unique. And your reason for wanting to know this would be?

What is it that you are tryng to discover exactly? The VIN should give you most knowable info...

And the engine # is JUST the engine #. The engine can be replaced easily...
