Default S60 sunrof will not close

The sunroof always had issues since we bought the car but now it will not close! Well I managed to close it semi manually but it is now getting much worse to get it done this way. Anyway here is what happens: it will open with a push of the button but then it goes back so far that it clicks like it's skipping a gear, loud clicking noise, then it will not close. I had to play with it, pushing the open button and holding it while it skips and then pushing it to close which then inches it to close back and forth. I started to take it apart, starting at the dome light but not really sure where to go from here.
Any advice/instructions?

Remove the passenger side sun visor and a pillar trim. Then you can pull the headliner down some to get into the motor and maybe remove it for now and close the roof.

It might be a cable or the motor might have just come loose.
