Default Shifter ****

I bought the replacement shifter/shaft ****. I went to two mechanics to confirm how to pull it off. Both of them said disconnect the boot, which I did and pull up. The shaft on my car is not a skinny one like in the diagram. The shaft on my 2003 s60 is a solid thick metal shaft.
Now what?

The skinny part goes into #25 on the diagram so you don't really see it until it's out. As for what to do now? Pull harder unfortunately. I have seen a guide mention pressing the shifter **** in during removal, not sure how you can easily tackle that. Make sure you are pulling parallel with the position of the shifter. So if it is angled due to its current position, you will need to follow that angle.

Thanks a million! That's just the video I couldn't find. Job done. Getting that boot clipped back in is another OMG time. Man what a bad design.

Also, if you take your car out of park, make sure the parking brake is on and the car wheels are blocked so it doesn't roll away on ya.
