steering wheel vibrates/wobbles when braking
hi all, i have a 2002 s60 t5 which i am slowly fixing up (while using it). one issue i have is that when i brake the steering wheel vibrates/wobbles. i have had new tyres put on the front and they have been aligned. also just went through an mot and no obvious problems thrown up for this.
does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this problem?
thanks in advance

I would check a few suspension things.
First I would check the Lower Control Arm bushings.
Second the top engine mount the connects to the stabilizer bar. Rubber usually wears out after a while and need to be replace.
Third there is a transmission mount on the bottom that is rubber often needs to be replaced as well.
Lastly, the subframe bushing might be going. I have never replace them but on my 02 s60 I bought some Polyurethane inserts through IPD USA and installed them and they really improved the the suspension.
I have an 02 s60 with 230,000 miles that I have had for about 8 years now. I completed all those repairs with exception of the transmission mount (haven't needed it). I want to say it was the lower control arms/ball joints that were shot when i had major play in the wheel.
I highly suggest IPD Parts for Suspension on these cars. There are YouTube videos for all those jobs.
