Default V60...apparent good voltage, no starter

My neighbor has a 2016 V60. He has previously reported that no starting has been corrected by charging the battery. I suspect battery...He put on charger last night:

Today:
Press brake, push starter button, all dash lights come on, no starter. An ignition ON message, or similar. Clicking at the engine. There is NOT an immobilizer message. All dash lights go out, with the exception of 'check engine'.

Same occurs when attempting to use a battery booster as well as cables from another running car.

Ideas? ECM?

I loaned him my basic reader:

is this saying you are seeing 12.2V after putting a charge into the battery? I'd expect something more like 12.6V+. what do you see with a multimeter when the car is off, no jumper cables etc. Does the car start with help from jumper cables? If so, sounds like a new battery is needed.

Good BATT voltage. NO starter rotation, with either the car battery or jump cables. My friend said a call to the dealership indicated a possible loose cable or a blown fuse that resides between the batt and the starter.

Mine had very similar symptoms - the cause was, indeed, a blown fuse in the battery-starter connection. It took the dealership 3 days to figure that out! Fortunately the car was covered by the CPO warranty. Apparently, while the demi-god Vidas can detect an out-of-synch perambulation of the secondary framus, a simple multi-meter reading is beneath its dignity. We were better served in the days when mechanics, not "technicians" worked on cars.
