Default Vibration when idling

My 2006 S60 has about 36,000 miles on it, and I'm noticing the car vibrating when I'm at idle, especially in traffic with the A/C on. Any thoughts? It's still under warranty.

Check the engine mounts.

I had the same issue, on my 04 2.5t, so i had them replace the engine mounts and it took the shake away.... for about three months, then back to shaking. took it to a volvo specialist, and they said my engine mounts were bad!! haha, I got over it, and just deal with a little vibration for now...

What's the deal with these suck *** engine mounts? I just had one replaced on my car. Is it normal for engine mount to go out as much as these seem to? I don't recall ever having this issue with any other car that I have owned before....

?

in short, all volvo OEM parts that are made of rubber or plastic are garbage. switch to the IPD mounts and they will last much longer.

That said, they will vibrate a bit more anyway as they are a bit harder.

OK, so all the motor mounts have been replaced, as well as the steering rack and box. Some improvement but can still feel a noticeable vibration at idle. When I start it up and the idle is high, I don't feel one at all. Thoughts?

Have you put it in neutral and slowly climbed the RPM ladder? Done the same in Drive (with the brakes on, of course)? It might be an ignition problem, including a worn plug, bad timing, bad coil/spark. Or the mass air flow sensor is dirty, sticking, etc., causing a weird air/fuel mix at certain rpms. Since you're under the 4yr/50K mile warranty, I'd insist on a dealer diagnosis and cure. You don't want to wait until its 5 years and one month old, at least w/o significant documents of complaints about the problem that weren't resolved.

Don't feel bad about the motor mounts. In the 1965 - 1970 Chevy V8's GM had to recall ALL the motor mounts -- they'd separate under rotational torque. The fix was a cable limiting their travel if they broke. Looked ugly. If it broke when your SS 396 was floored, it would cause a wide open throttle condition that you were really lucky if your drum brakes could overcome in time. Talk about your unintended acceleration!!!!

No, haven't tried that in neutral, but when I drive away there's no vibration. I'll try that soon.

Hello Everyone!
I'm a new member and have a question related to "Engine System Service Required" message with a Yellow Warning Light /!\ on my 2003 S60. Volvo say they got an error code for Brake Pedal Postion Sensor but if that's not the problem it could be the ABS Control Module! They can't tell without replacing the Sensor first because apparently it can mask out an error on the ABS! Strange! ABS works perfectly & there's no ABS light. Another local mechanic checked the computer and said the only code coming up is a Key Security Error which could be because of a low batter on my remote. Nothing else shows up! I'm confused! The car is at 120K and running smoothly with good power. There is a problem with the fron headlamp wiper motor getting stuck and making 4 repeated "motor buzzing" noise at ON/OFF but that shouldn't be an engine issue! Any ideas.
