Default Volvo s60 front brakes 2012

Hi there,
A year ago we were on vacation in Florida--drove down. 117K on my S60. Brakes squeaking, mechanic we found (highly recommended locally)
replaced all four brakes to the tune of $2K. What are you going to do? We were 1800 miles from home.

Now, 4000 miles later (don't drive the car much) front brakes are acting up. Had a certified local mechanic take a look. He said they didn't install
right, left off lube behind rotor and on set screw so rusted on. Odometer is at 121,500. Now need replacement or turning.

My husband had done these front brakes a couple years before (he knows what he's doing) so now I wonder. Why are they "going bad" so quickly?
Was it a bad brake job in Florida?

Anyone else experience this maddening situation?

Just curious. What's your husband's opinion?

How are the brakes acting up?

Sorry, don't understand "left off lube behind rotor" (the hub and rotor should be clean and dry when installing a rotor, and commonly get "stuck" with rust to a hub after some time). Gentle persuasion is usually need to remove a disc from a hub after you remove the one (or more depending on the make of car) screws holding the rotor to the hub

And "set screw rusted on" - the alignment pin? there is one alignment pin on each wheel to help install the wheels and keep the rotor in place with the wheels off, the wheel holds the rotor flat once it's installed - that should not be lubricated either. Do you live in a Northern, salted road climate?

The rotors are distorted so they are pulsing. Mechanic measured them.
This is 4000 miles after the brake job. Top dollar brake job.

My husband is puzzled but knows this should not be happening.

Contacted the shop, they have a national warranty. Contacting them tomorrow. 24,000 miles, 2 years.
