Default Volvo S60 R MPG...

Hi all.. I'm new to the forums & am looking @ purchasing a 2005 Volvo S60R. My question is this... several of the sellers say they are averaging 23mpg city/highway.. and getting as much as 28-30 on the highway. EPA only lists this car @ 15/City- 22/Highway... 18 combined?

Are these owners blowing smoke up my you-know-what, or was the EPA way off?

Thanks!

Unless the car has and ECU tune and a bigger down pipe and or exhaust 18-20MPG is about where most R stand. They also like 91-93 octane > No cheep reg gas for these car The mpg and performance will suffer with the lower Ocatane..With the way current Gas prices are thats also another thing to look at. But if the car has been taken car of there is No better Volvo made then or Now... Just a great fun car to drive GL

That's what I was afraid of. He does have a custom exhaust system on it... but said he usually only runs 89 octane in it getting those #'s. I already have a '68 Plymouth that gets about 11mpg... I need something that gets better than 18-20. I still love the S60's though, I'll just look for a nice 2.5T or 2.4 (non turbo), non-AWD model.

Thanks!

Before I got the tune on my manual S60R I was getting around 24ish on the freeway. After the tune intake and turbo back exhaust, I'll get upwards of 29-31 on the freeway at 60 to 65mph. Since I've owned the car it's only ran 92 octane.

You can always look and see what the MPG calculator on the dash says the car is getting...

You non-California guys are lucky... lower (by a little) gas prices & good gas. We only have 91 octane, and it's **** water compared to what other states get.
